Going on a photography trip can be a wonderful adventure and a chance to come home with lots of portfolio-worthy shots, but there’s more to it than simply grabbing your camera and booking a plane ticket. This great video will give you seven helpful tips to maximize your returns from a photography trip.
Coming to you from Nigel Danson, this excellent video will give you some helpful tips for better photography trips. Of the tips, I think the most important is to do research beforehand. Sure, it’s totally fun going somewhere with your camera and no plan and just exploring, but if you’re focused on coming home with a lot of quality shots, it pays to have a good, detailed plan before you head out. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by a new location (particularly a photogenic one) and end up stopping every 10 minutes to take a shot, and as Danson puts it, this will cause you to end up coming home with a lot of “vacation snapshots.” It’s much better to pick out the can’t-miss spots and spend time truly photographing them rather than taking quick shots. Check out the video above for more of Danson’s tips.
